The Idaho Main Street Alliance today released a report titled “Protecting New Health Insurance Markets from Insurance Company Conflict of Interest. The report discusses how deeply embedded the insurance industry is in the process for developing Idaho’s health insurance exchange legislation and how health insurance companies have their hands—and dollars—in politics.
An excerpt of the report states:
“Based on six anti-conflict of interest measures, this report card grades Idaho’s draft health insurance exchange legislation, now being developed by the Idaho Health Insurance Exchange Governance Workgroup. The draft legislation earns an F, failing on all counts. This grade falls far short of what is needed to protect Idahoans from health insurance company dominance of the new health insurance exchange.”
